Obituary of Salvatore J. Mistretta
Please share a memory of Salvatore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bakers Mills:
Salvatore Mistretta, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather embarked on his final journey Wednesday, August 19, 2015, holding his soulmate, Linda’s hand.
Sal faithfully and heroically served his country in World War II as an Air Force pilot, flying B-29’s.
He had a life of adventure that brought him from the Pacific Theater, to Park Avenue, and lastly, to a quiet retirement in the country. Sal was part of a generation that exists in myth, and one of the last of a selfless and extraordinary group. He gave his whole life to others, and those who knew him will recall a quiet, reserved gentleman.
Per Sal’s wishes, memorial services will be private.
The family asks that all fond memories of Sal, who was the most benevolent and altruistic human being, be made to honor this remarkable man in the form of donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or the Wounded Warrior Project. We thank you for your condolences, kind thoughts, and prayers.
