Obituary of Carl L. Watkins

Thurman: Carl L. Watkins, 59, of Glen Athol Road, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at his home, following a long illness. Born December 24, 1957 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Francis and Arlene (Dingman) Watkins. Carl was a graduate of Hadley-Luzerne School, Class of 1975. He enlisted into the United States Airforce in 1978. Following his honorable discharge in 1986 he went to work as a logger, and later the Sagamore Resort and B Craft Lumber Co. before retiring. In addition to spending time with his grandkids, Carl enjoyed reading and caring for his plants. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Grace Dingman, paternal grandparents, Joseph and Doris Watkins, and step-son, CJ Haskell. He is survived by his children, Katie (Watkins) Miner and her husband, Justin, of Warrensburg, and Carl Watkins and his wife, Courtney, of Thurman, and their mother, Heidi Haskell and her husband, Stub Bills, of Stony Creek; step-children, Rosalee Carlton and her husband, Curtis, of Hadley, Dustin Haskell and his wife, Loretta, of Athol; grandchildren, Chelsea, Justin “Bub”, Kemper, and Killian Miner, Carl Watkins, Jr., and six step-grandchildren; siblings, Anthony and Denise Watkins of Amsterdam, Matt and Angela Watkins of Lake Luzerne, Valeri Lathrop and companion, Tom, of Glens Falls, Gracie and Richie Williams of Stony Creek, John Watkins and companion, William Tracky of Queensbury, Paul and Hilary Watkins of Warrensburg, Jules Watkins of Stony Creek, Justin Watkins of Queensbury, Jason Watkins of Lake George, Laurie Watkins of Warrensburg, Laura and Dave Barton of Lake Luzerne, Joe and Laurie Watkins of Utah, and Art and Judy Sue Watkins of Warrensburg. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family members. At Carl’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors to celebrate his life at 11 am, Friday, October 13, 2017 in Reynolds Cemetery, S. Johnsburg Rd., Thurman.
