Obituary of Carson E. Parker

Lake George: Carson E. Parker, 80, of Bakers Crossing Road, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born March 19, 1938 in Thurman, he was the son of the late Donald and Pauline Parker. He was the oldest of four boys. Following his graduation from Warrensburg Central School in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in March of 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962. During his time with the service, he went to boot camp in Cape May, NJ, and then stationed in New York City, Groton CT, and Sand Island in Honolulu, HI before embarking for two years aboard the U. S. Coast Guard Cutter, Buttonwood, which supplied Loran stations and aided navigation throughout the Pacific. He made two, 4 month trips to Japan with stops at many of the infamous islands in the Pacific where battles of WWII were fought. Upon his return stateside, he married Sharon Egan of Brant Lake on April 15, 1965. He began his working career at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, first as a jailor and six months later, became a Communications Officer where he remained for six years. Carson went on patrol as a Deputy Sheriff in 1970 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1974. He served as undersheriff for Sheriff Ned Tripp from 84-85 and for Sheriff Fred Lamy until his retirement in June of 1994, following 30 years of dedicated service to his community. Carson joined the Warrensburg American Legion, Post 446 in 1993 and quickly became Post Commander in 1994, a position he held consecutively until 2011. He became an active member of the Warrensburg Alumni Association in 1994 and quickly elected President, serving continuously until 2013. He was a member of the Warrensburg 50+ Senior Citizens Club as well as the Sugar Loaf Senior Citizens Club in Thurman. He was a long-time member of the Warrensburg First Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his in-laws, Donald and Edrie Egan and sister-in-law, Trudi Egan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Parker of Lake George; three brothers, Allen “Cub” Parker and his companion, Vicki Lloyd of Athol, Neil Parker and his wife, Jackie of Waterford, and Rodney Parker of Chestertown; a sister, Donna Combs and her husband, Gene of Lake George; brother-in-law, Eric Egan of Queensbury; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Carson’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. Services will be conducted privately in Brant Lake Cemetery.
