Thurman: Doris G. Baker, 88, formerly of Cameron Road, passed away, Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born October 13, 1922 in Granville, she was the daughter of the late Hial and Mabel (Ellsworth) Hall. Doris was one of 10 children of the Granville, Hall family and married Carl L. Baker on January 27, 1939 in Stony Creek. Carl passed away on May 2, 2008 after 69 blissful years together. She worked briefly at the Warrensburg Shirt Factory and helped her husband build their home. Her favorite pastimes included sewing, hair dressing and reading. Besides her parents and husband, her infant son, Carl Jr., and son, Kenneth C. Baker, brothers, Meade, Willard, Gilford, Meredith, Maynard and Hial Hall and sisters, June Bowen, Evelyn Baker and Freyda Fuller have all predeceased her. Survivors include her three children: Gary Baker of Mount Laurel, NJ; Gayle Braley of Warrensburg; and Carol Ann Darrah of New Milford, CT; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted 1 PM Thursday in Warrensburg Cemetery. Doris’ wishes were that calling hours be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Lung Association. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guest book, condolences and directions.
