Ned Ralph Locke, 69, born October 1, 1949, in Glens Falls, NY passed Monday February 18, 2019 in New Bern, NC.
Ned was the son of Ned and Ann Locke of Indian Lake, NY. He is survived by his wife Sharon Locke of Newport, NC; Sister, Nancy Knickerbocker and husband Billy of Johnsburg, NY; Daughter, Andrea Witt and husband Travis of Fort Edward, NY; Son, Zachary Locke and companion Ashley-Marie Hudgins of Havelock, NC; Daughter, Tara Locke-Gummere and Husband Robert of Barre, VT; and grandchildren; Nolan Shepler, Dalton Witt, Mason Locke and Donovan Gummere.
He grew up in Indian Lake, NY and joined the military at a young age serving his country honorably.
His bravery during his career and service while in military earned Ned The Purple Heart while serving in the Vietnam War. Ned served as a Mortar-Man in the United States Marine Corps. Ned defended and served for our country, later being medically discharged.
Upon his medical discharge from the United States Marine Corps, he moved back to Indian Lake, NY to be close with family and friends, then Warrensburg, NY for a short while, later moving and settling down in Newport, North Carolina with his wife of 15 years Sharon. Ned was well known in his community for “wearing his heart on his sleeve” Always a jokester with a smile on his face! Ned had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back in an instant.
In his free time, Ned enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with friends at the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping. His kids and grandkids meant the world to him. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Disabled American Veterans group (DAV).
Ned was a true gentleman who embodied the true strength of character and virtue summed up in the motto of the United States Marine Corps “Semper Fi”. He lived life with courage, fortitude and patience always with his loved ones at his side.

A memorial service to celebrate Ned’s life will be conducted 11:30 am, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 389 Main St., Warrensburg, NY
