Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg: Edward L. Kreinheder, 97, of Main Street, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 2, 1912 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Hugo and Augusta (Boerner) Kreinheder. He married Pearl Diebold on November 7, 1936. During the war years, Ed operated an auto scrap metal business to support the war effort. In 1941, the couple purchased a camp and woodlands in the Adirondacks where he and his family spent many enjoyable summers. He moved his family from the Buffalo area to Stony Creek in 1946. Ed led a varied and productive life. He dealt in antiques for most of his adult life and had a keen interest in the history of the Adirondacks. He was a building contractor and a fine cabinet maker, building his own home in Stony Creek as well as an apartment house which he and his wife still own in Warrensburg. He also built several homes and camps in the Lake George/Stony Creek area. He was active in civic affairs while in Stony Creek and was a large supporter of the library. In 1964, he moved to Warrensburg and opened his antique shop, becoming well known and respected for his vast knowledge of books. Ed took great pride in his large family. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his stepmother, Wilhemina Kreinheder; and his brother, Albert Kreinheder. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Pearl; daughters: Kay Clarke and her husband, Joe of Stony Creek; Carol Lorrain and her husband, Bill of Queensbury; and Joan Squires and her husband, Jerry of Florida; his son, Edward Kreinheder and his wife, Debbie of Latham; along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Ed’s grandson wrote a poetic tribute called “Grandparents,” the poem concludes with: “Or as an adult talking with Pop, he was a wealth of information, that never seemed to stop. He was a great role model who had a lot to give, and believed in the motto, to live and let live.” At Ed’s request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family and that no calling hours be scheduled. Donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY 12804. Please visit www.alexanderfuneralhomes.com for online guest book and condolences.
