Obituary of Avah Ray Coulman

Queensbury: Avah Ray Coulman, two year old daughter of Amber Pratt of Queensbury and Raymond Coulman of Wilton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her home. Born December 20, 2008 in Albany, Avah was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome, while battling Hirshprungs Disease and Congenital Heart Disease. She was a fighter. She had a smile that lit up the room and brought joy to all that she encountered. Avah was a real social bug, and loved spending time with her family; she had a special bond with her “poppy”, who she loved giving wet kisses to. Avah also enjoyed cheese doodles, scooting around the house, listening to music, looking at her books, watching Dora The Explorer, and loving up to her cat, “Chloe”. Avah is predeceased by her maternal great great grandmother, Marian Baker; paternal great grandfather, Clarence “Bud” Taylor; paternal great great grandfather, Frank Cook; uncle, Nathaniel Coulman; great uncle, Timothy Coulman; great aunt, Lori Burch; and her cousin, Jason Monroe. Other than her parents, she leaves behind; her brother, Brock; paternal grandparents, Cheryl Ann (Brothers) Coulman of Warrensburg and Cedric C. Coulman and his fiancé, Wendy Golden of Gansevoort; maternal grandmother, Yvette Baker of Argyle; maternal great grandparents, Bernie and Lorraine Baker of Warrensburg; paternal great grandparents, David and Carol Coulman of Weldon, NC; paternal great grandparents, Floyd and Janice Brothers of Davie, FL, and Frances Taylor of Warrensburg; paternal aunts, Ashley Coulman of Warrensburg, and Heidi Sullivan of Queensbury; paternal uncles, Cedric D. Coulman, Jeremy Taylor and his wife, Dallas Langworthy, all of Warrensburg; maternal aunt; Scarlette Baker of Warrensburg; maternal uncle; Bernie Baker and his wife, Tracy of Queensbury; paternal great aunts; Brandi Lockhart and her husband, Jeromy, Debbie, Fran, and Fallon Curry, all of Davie, FL, Melissa Wheeler of Katy TX; cousins: Alexis Sullivan, Justin Coulman, Tyler, Trevor, Bernie, and McKennah Baker, all of Queensbury;Kiara Coulman of Weldon, NC; Jessica Smith of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Kayla Vernum, Brandon Bliss, and Dillon and Julia Taylor, all of Warrensburg; paternal great uncles: William Shawn Coulman and his wife, Christine of Queensbury; Frank Coulman of Weldon, NC; Arnold Coulman and his wife, Dianne of Port St. Lucie, FL. Friends may call on Avah’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Friday, February, 18, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate this beautiful life will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home, with Sister Linda Hogan, parish life director at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc., 139 South Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
