North Creek:
Robert Henry “Bob” Osowiecki, 64, formerly of Staten Island, passed away April 20, 2014, at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Creek, following a long illness.
Born January 31, 1950 in Shenandoah, PA, he was the youngest of four born to the late Anna (Andrulonis) Osowiecki and Henry Osowiecki of Staten Island.
Bob moved with his family to the Sunnyside neighborhood of Staten Island at the age of five, and later graduated from Curtis High School.
He married Jill Harrington on July 30, 1983 in Staten Island.
Bob served his country in the Army National Guard, after attending Oregon State University where he studied Forestry before returning to Staten Island.
He was employed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation for 33 years, where he worked throughout the boroughs of NYC, ending his career as a Principal Park Supervisor on Staten Island in 2002.
Following his retirement, he relocated to his North Creek home in the Adirondacks, a place he loved.
Throughout his life and especially in retirement, Bob was very interested in, connected to, and observant of nature, and enjoyed walking through the woods with family, friends and canine companions; he had a vast knowledge of plants and wildlife, which he delighted in sharing with others.
Over the years, Bob was a member of various organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, as an Eagle Scout, Shriners International, the Elks, Warrensburgh Masonic Lodge, and the Johnsburg Rod and Gun Club.
Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Jill Harrington of North Creek; two daughters; Heather Osowiecki of Miami, FL, and Holly Osowiecki of Ithaca; a brother, Henry “Hank” Osowiecki of Staten Island; and his sisters, Carol Hajek of Staten Island, and Dorothy Olsen of Katonah. He also leaves behind many nieces, a nephew, friends and acquaintances, and his beloved yellow Labrador Retriever, Dakota.
At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
