Obituary of Lucy J. Persons

North Creek: Lucy Jane Persons, 95, formerly of Main Street, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Colonial Manor in York, PA. Born Oct.18, 1921 in Wevertown, she was the daughter of the late John H and Sarah (Colvin) Heath. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon L. Persons, Jr with whom she shared 72 + years of marriage. Lucy was a lifelong resident of North Creek and member of North Creek Baptist Church. She always enjoyed making rolls, deviled eggs and helping with the turkey supper fundraisers at church. She enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping. Bingo, and her home, hand built by her husband. She and Gordon were active in the Opalescent Club and the local meal site and were able spend over 25 winters in their Florida home. She found great joy making crafts and knitting things for family and friends. She was predeceased by two sons, Ernest Bertram Persons and Gordon L Persons, III and her two brothers, Elmer and Carl, and 2 sisters, Christine and Mary. She is survived by daughter Jane C Henty and husband, John of York, PA; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Peter (Tomoko) Henty, Allen (Darlene) Henty, T.J. (Stacy) Persons and Janina (Greg) Darnell. She was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren: Hanako, Emily, Nathan, Owen, Josh, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Jacob, Zechariah and Mercedes; one great-great-grandson, Travis, who has provided a special joy to her in her last months as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 12 pm, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the North Creek Baptist Church, 74 Main St., North Creek with Rev. Arnold Stevens, officiating. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service at the church until 3 pm. Burial will be conducted privately in Union Cemetery, North Creek.
