Obituary of Joseph H. Springer

Thurman/Norfolk, VA: Joseph Howard Springer, 68, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 18, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Mary (Daniels) Springer of Queensbury and the late Howard Springer. Following his graduation from Glens Falls High School in 1962, Joe enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country as a mechanic until his Honorable Discharge in 1967. Following his honorable discharge, Joe married Pamela Weller. Joe a true handyman, working as a general contractor for several local motels including The Marine Village, The surfside Motel, and The Landmark Inn. Later in life, he relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, where he was stationed during his service in the Navy. Besides spending time with his family, Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle and long walks on the beach. He is survived by his children, Brian Springer and his wife, Lisa of SC; Darren Springer and his companion, Sue Russell of Thurman; Mark Springer and his companion, Heather O’Neill of Mechanicsville; his step-daughter, Victoria Franklin and her husband, Billy of TN; his siblings, David Springer of Queensbury and Katie Maille and her husband, Joe of Argyle; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Joe’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew, officiating. Burial will follow in North Argyle Cemetery, Argyle. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The American Cancer Society.
