Sarah Pauline “Polly” (Darrah) Cayer, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday June 29, 2013 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Born August 20, 1931 in The Glen, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah (Ross) Darrah.
A lifelong resident of the area, Polly married Simon J. Cayer on January 9, 1966 in North Creek; the couple spent 33 blissful years together before his passing on December 21, 1998.
She was employed by Smith’s Restaurant for several years.
Polly was a member of the Adirondack Tri County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center ladies Auxiliary and attended the North Creek Methodist Church.
Other than spending time with her family, she loved to play bingo and crochet.
Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Darrah.
Polly is survived by her two daughters, Robin Dunkley of Warrensburg and Brenda Hitchcock of Malone; four grandchildren, Heather Johnston and her husband, Chris of FL, Brook Luke and her husband, Frank, of VA, Peter LaPell and his wife, Tina, and Travis LaPell, both of Warrensburg; four great-grandchildren, Connor and Reid Johnston and Hudson and Aiden Luke; a sister, Patricia Daley and her husband, Richard of South Glens Falls. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
At Polly’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled.
A memorial service to celebrate her beautiful life will take place at 1:00 pm, Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg with Rev. Stephen Andrews, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
