Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diamond Point/Naples, FL: Robert K. Cording, 85, of Naples, Florida, and East Schroon River Road, Diamond Point, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born December 21, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Emma (Koehne) Cording. Bob married Muriel Durham on December 28, 1947; married for 63 years, they were both loving spouses and each other’s most loyal and devoted friends. Bob graduated from Englewood High School in New Jersey and, after serving in the Army, New York University. He worked in New York City for Continental Insurance; after his retirement, he owned and managed Cording’s Garden Center in Ringwood, New Jersey with his wife and son, Richard. Bob was first and foremost a husband and father. More than all else, he enjoyed being with his wife, his three sons, and his eleven grandchildren. His family loved his sly wit and his ability to find or, more frequently, make up the apt phrase to keep all around him in laughter. His pleasures were simple and many: to sit with his wife along the Schroon and watch the river as his children and, later grandchildren swam and fished; to play a heated game of horse shoes, a game at which he was especially adept; to play a few rounds of poker with friends and family; to listen to or watch his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, of which he was a devoted fan for over sixty years. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William. Bob lives on in his wife, Muriel; his three sons, Robert and his wife Colleen, Richard and his wife Joanne, and Ronald and his ex-wife Leslie; and his eleven grandchildren: Robert (and his wife Melissa), Daniel, and Thomas; Charles, Christina, Kathryn, and Carlye; Rich (and his wife Nicole), Elissa, James and Eric. Friends may call on Bob’s family from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 pm, Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted during the visitation at 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Diabetes Association. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guestbook, condolences and directions.
