Obituary of Barbara P. Russell

Johnsburg: Barbara P. Russell, 86, of Park Road, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born on April 10, 1923 in Johnsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Gladys (Hitchcock) Wescott. She married Herbert Russell on August 30, 1941. The couple lived and raised their family in the Johnsburg area. They were married for 58 years before Herb’s passing in 1999. She was a 15 year employee at the Warrensburg Shirt Factory, and also worked at Loon Lake Laundry, John’s Inn, and Anna Jones’s store in Johnsburg before her retirement in 1983. Besides her beloved husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Patricia A. Hall of Schroon Lake, who passed away on Friday, December 4; and her son in law, Donald R. Cameron and brother in law, Philip Armstrong. Survivors include her two children; William L. Russell of Johnsburg; Wanda M. Robillard and her husband, Tim of Tupper Lake; her sister, Virginia Armstrong of Wevertown; son in law, James Hall of Schroon Lake; 3 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, and 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Barbara’s family from 5-7 pm Wednesday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating. Burial will take place 11 am Thursday in the Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Johnsburg Emergency Squad.
