Warrensburg: Dolores “Auntie Dee” Reed, 79, of South Johnsburg Road, went into the loving arms of our Lord on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 following a long illness. Born July 17, 1929 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Anna (Norris) Schneider of Scotia. Dee lived in Scotia and graduated from the Scotia High School. Following her graduation, she worked at the Magua Printing Company. She also worked at Sears Roebuck in Colonie until her retirement. Upon retiring, Dee and her husband, Bill moved to their seasonal home in Adirondack. Together, the couple enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, dancing, family, and friends. Auntie Dee was a member of the Kenyontown Methodist Church. Besides her parents, Dee is predeceased by her beloved husband, William “Uncle Bill” Reed, and her sister Bernice Grants of Northville. Survivors include her nephew, Jeff Grants and his wife, Teresa of Warrensburg; great nieces: April Gill and her fiancée, Gerald Remington Jr., of Queensbury; Jalene (Grants) LaPradd and her husband, Anthony of Massena; great-great nieces: Ashley Simpson and her husband, Ron of Queensbury; Alicia Baker of Bolton Landing; great-great nephews: Gerald Remington III of Queensbury; Neji LaPradd of Massena; great-great-great nephews Christopher and Dalton Simpson; and her great-great-great niece, Sierra Simpson. Dee is also survived by her two sons: Gordon Murtagh and his wife, Debbie of Rotterdam; Richard Murtagh and his wife, Gloria of Amsterdam. During her last years, she resided with Jeff, Terri, and Jalene at their residence on South Johnsburg Road. Gordon and Debbie spent many Saturdays at our house giving her quality time and many laughs. She loved every minute of it. She was a devoted aunt, great aunt, and a friend to many people. She will be missed by all that got to know her over the years. The family would like to thank the staff at the High Peaks Hospice for their excellent care they gave to her. The family would also like to express a special thanks to Stephany Woods, Vicki Amatuzzi, and Tena Brown for the loving care they gave to Auntie Dee. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Kenyontown Methodist Church, 304 Valley Road, Thurman.
