Obituary of Katherine T. Studnicky

North Creek: Katherine T. Studnicky, 77, formerly of White Water Manor, passed away, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. Born May 2, 1931 in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Eleanor (Mende) McGrath. In her youth, she enjoyed roller skating, dance, and swimming at the Jersey shore. While residing in New Jersey, Katherine was a member of the Morris County Democratic Committee and the Florham Park Women’s Bowling League for 20 years. She moved to the north-country, where she owned and operated with her husband and daughter, Nancy, the Johnsburg Public Market for 12 years before retiring in 1993. Following her retirement, she moved to North Creek and spent the last several years in a Ticonderoga nursing home. Katherine loved to paint, read and knit. Besides her parents, she is also predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor Cuozzo and Jean Hermes, and her brother, Frederick McGrath. Survivors include her husband, George B. Studnicky Jr. of North Creek; her three sons, George B. Studnicky III and his wife, Lily of North Creek, Robert F. Studnicky and his wife, Donna of Fort Edward, Stephen B. Studnicky and his wife, Julie of North Creek; her two daughters, Nancy E. Studnicky, and Katharine T. Studnicky both of North Creek; eight grandchildren, Laura, Theresa, George IV, Daniel, Robert Jr., Victoria, JT and Dayna; three great grandchildren, Alicia, Emma and Dylan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate Katherine’s life will be conducted 12 noon, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. Friends may call on her family one hour prior to the memorial service Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the North Creek Vol. Fire Co. following the services for a time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Foundation or to the Johnsburg EMS in Katherine’s memory.
