Ernst DeCarli, 91, of Diamond Point, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 2, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born February 20, 1923 in Freyming, France, he was the son of the late Guido “Guy” Fortunato Michel and Marie Madeleine (Kammer) DeCarli.
Ernst was a butcher by trade, once owned a resort in Bolton Landing, was employed at Patrician paper mill, and was the superintendent at the Glens Falls home, all before retiring.
He enjoyed nothing more than a good meal, sitting on the deck with a cold beer, and watching his beloved birds. In his earlier years, his favorite pastime was fishing, whether on the ocean, lake, or ice.
In addition to his parents and a brother, Ernst is predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Margarete DeCarli, and his partner of 16 years, Helen Sullivan.
He is survived by three children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother and several extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Bolton Landing, with Father Nellis Tremblay, officiating.
Friends may later call on Ernst’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Wednesday, at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
Burial will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, in Bolton Rural Cemetery.
