BAKERS MILLS: Rose I. (Keefer) Persons, 68 years young, of Bakers Mills, NY passed away unexpectedly with her beloved husband by her side on April 30, 2024.

Rose was born to the late Eugene and Patricia (DeLair) Keefer on April 12, 1956, in Troy, NY. She graduated from Tamarac High School. Following her graduation, she pursued a career as a beautician. It was during this time that she crossed paths with the love of her life, David Persons. The two were united in marriage in Troy on June 26, 1975, and this year would have marked their 49th wedding anniversary. After tying the knot, Dave and Rose relocated to Baker’s Mills, where they began their journey together with their children.

Rose excelled in her roles as a devoted mother and dedicated homemaker, setting a standard of excellence for others to admire. Additionally, she used her talents seasonally at Gore Mountain, where she served in the kitchen for 17 years until her retirement in 2016. Beyond her household duties and professional commitments, Rose also took on the responsibility of overseeing the Johnsburg Food Pantry for several years, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to supporting those in need within her community. Alongside her husband Dave they managed the local Wildcats Little Leage Baseball team for several years and she was always willing to contribute wherever she could. Her interests ranged from enjoying bingo and various crafts to cooking, but above all else, Rose cherished the moments spent with her beloved family.

Rose is reunited with her cherished best friend and mother, Patricia Keefer, as well as her beloved father, Eugene Keefer. Also awaiting her are her dear brother, Thomas Keefer, sister, Daune Kasmier, and brother-in-law’s John Denekar and Chad Stoliker. Joining them in heavenly reunion are her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Mary Persons.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband David Persons of Bakers Mills; son John Persons of Wichita, KS; daughters Elizabeth (Francis) Galle of North Creek, Marci Persons and her partner Jason Goldsmith of Queensbury, NY, Kathleen (Joel) Persons-Monroe of Newcomb, NY; brother David Keefer of Valley Falls, NY; sisters Eugenia Denekar of Troy, Theresa (James) Mysliwiec of Valley Falls, NY, Linda Decker of Troy, NY, Nancy (Adam) Fosmire of Troy, NY and Christine Stoliker of Pittstown, NY; grandchildren Brandon Persons and his fiancé Mia DiBattista of Huntsville, Alabama, Madalyn (Sam) Dunbar of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Anthony (Syana Sandiford) Galle of Long Lake, Angelo Galle and Ari Galle of North Creek, Lilian Monroe, Hunter Monroe, Ember Monroe and Travis Cantrell all of Newcomb, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
