Jean Ann Towers, 78, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her home in Fort Plain surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 16, 1934 on Raymond Lane in Warrensburg, where her father built many homes. She was the eldest child of the late Lawrence and Ruth (Edmonds) Raymond, growing up on Kellum Lake.
Jean graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1952, then went on to obtain her Masters degree in Art Education.
She was employed by the Lake George Central School for many years as an art teacher.
Jean married Ward B. Towers on October 3, 1959 in Warrensburg. The couple spent 35 wonderful years together until his passing on July 13, 1995.
She was an avid reader, artist, seamstress, traveler, and gardener who will always be remembered for her incomparable wit.
Besides her parents and beloved husband, she is predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Jacobs.
She is survived by her loving children, Joanne, Polly, and Tracy; her brother, Richard Raymond; eight grandchildren, Alonzo, Jeanne, Andrew, Sarah, Alexander, Jamie, Michael, and Mariya; two great-grandsons, Dante and Maxwell. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Jean’s family from 12:30 to 2 pm, Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
