Gary L. Palmer, 55, of Woodline Lane, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer with his beloved wife by his side.
Born August 24, 1957 in Rome, NY, he was the son of Linda Beard of Camden and the late John Palmer.
Gary graduated from Vernon High School and then moved to North Carolina where he spent 10 years and then enjoyed a few years in Alaska. He also resided in the State of Washington. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and trapping.
Locally, Gary was well known as the Barbecue Man for his culinary expertise he learned while in the Pacific Northwest.
Gary spent the majority of his life, farming and loved and respected all of God’s creatures.
He also worked at Finch Pryne in Glens Falls for 8 years before his illness.
He held memberships in NRA, North American Hunting Club, the North American Fishing Club, the Buck Masters Hunting of Northern NY Club and the spiritual prayer Group of 40.
Survivors besides his mother, Include his wife of 12 years, Sheila (Roberts) Palmer of Athol; Step children, Gabrielle Provost of Richmond, VA, Joseph Azar of Tupper Lake, Elizabeth Azar of Colton; brother, John Palmer of Rome, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Gary’s request, there are no calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to local food banks or to the American Cancer Society.
