Gwen, Theresa, Jimmy, and Beth and Grandchildren:
I'm very saddened by the news of Jim's passing as I learned this past week from Jimmy's phone call last Tuesday. I last spoke with Jim on October 30th and we talked about his visits to see Gwen. He was an extremely caring friend. Jim always asked about my family and girlfriend and daughter whenever we spoke. He had an unselfish caring for others that is rare. He made a special effort to send letters from Santa to my girlfriends daughter every year.
I'm going to miss his great smile and warmth he has shown me over the years. I'm pretty lucky to have known him and shared some of his proudest moments when he spoke about his children and grandchildren, especially his grandaughter graduating from my alma mater. Driving into Theresa James Drive always said something to me about this man. He would do anything for his kids and grandchildren.
Goodbye my friend and may God be with you always.

Dear Jimmy and Theresa, Well reality has set in. It's hard to believe that our friend and neighbor is gone. We know he's finally without pain and at peace, but we sure are going to miss him. It will never be the same in our little neighborhood. You all will continue to be in our prayers. May God continue to bless you. Love, Joan and Dick

Dear Theresa, Jim and Beth, and Gwen,
Please accept my sincere sympathy upon the death of Jim. We have been friends for so long, since my days on the Recycling committee, which he supported so well. He was dedicated to his family, his friends, his church, his town, his position, and was a great Republican--always first to get his petition signatures, and always helping in my campaigns. He will be missed. My thoughts are with you, and I am so sorry that I am out of town and unable to attend the Mass he will be remembered at. This Saturday I will remember him at Mass as well. Sincerely, Betty

I knew Jim since he started with Queensbury, as I was in the Qby Police Dept. We had many conversations over the years, even on Face Book. Jim will be missed by many, he was a straight shooter, and had a great sense of humor. My deepest sympathys to the family, he was a great person to know and be around.

Kathi and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Jim Jr., his family members and his friends. We socialized with Jim Sr. and Gwen Perry (My Mom) on several occasions over the many years. My Mom and Jim first met and worked together at the Town of Queensbury office building back in 1976. Outside of “Town Business”, Jim always made sure there was nothing that needed to be done for Gwen. Jim was just that kind of person. For that matter, if anyone needed his help, you could count on it!
We especially enjoyed Jim giving us the run down on his latest Lottery Tickets and the Odds of winning while we enjoyed Breakfast at Poppies (Jerry DI Manno's) Restaurant in Glens Falls. He had a very special small note book with everyone’s phone numbers and would say “If I win this week – you’ll get 10% or what ever he had in mind.
There were always some bumps in the road. But I can emphatically say, if there was ever anyone I would want to wind up with in a Life Boat with – it would be Mr. James T. Coughlin.
He had my deepest respect and I will miss him!

I saw in the paper that your father had died and wanted to extend my sympathies to both of you. Your dad was very kind to me when I worked at Warrensburg School. He even got me tickets for Rod Stewart at the Glens Falls Civic Center! Thinking of you both at this difficult time.

Jim will be greatly missed. We talked many times about the good old days when we were both young and in school remembering the many times that we had enjoyed being from the Westport/Lewis area and the friends that we both knew. We were always saying we're going to do this or go there. Life is too short and he deserved more time to enjoy his senior years.
