Johnsburg: Helen Elizabeth (Morehouse) McCarty, 79, of Garnet Lake Road North, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 22, 1941 to the late Orin R. Morehouse and the late Cora Almira (Monroe) Morehouse of Brant Lake. Helen had 10 siblings including: the late Wanda Scanlon, Mary Cavanaugh, Jean Ward, Edward Morehouse, and Ricky Morehouse. She is survived by her siblings Patricia Fish, Nancy Hayes, Ronald Morehouse, and Gerald “Jake” Morehouse. Helen had 5 children, 17 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Helen now joins her children; Tammy Weatherwax and Thomas (Pam Wrenn) Weatherwax; her husband, James Jerome McCarty; as well as her stepdaughter, Theresa Brehany, in the land on the other side. She is also survived by her children: Lisa (David) Bateman of Johnsburg; George (Marcia) Weatherwax of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and Karyn (Dustin) Spring of Lake Luzerne; as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen enjoyed crocheting, shopping, cooking, watching her favorite westerns, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the abundant wildlife in the Adirondacks, the home where she grew up, and often watched the deer and birds outside. Helen was known for always caring for and putting her family first. She will be truly missed. At Helen’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted privately at Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
