I was so sad to hear that Mickey had died. He was a sweet man, who meant a great more to people than the fact that he was a barber. Mickey was the first barber that I went to after I grew my hair long. No one else cut men’s long hair. He had a set up in his father’s shop and was the only barber that I’d go to for the rest of my time in Glens Falls and whenever I returned for vacations with my family there. The only one sweeter than Mickey was his wife, Nancy. No matter one’s profession, a person is judged by their character and Mickey was a role model for how to be a decent, compassionate, and caring human being. I will miss him terribly and want to send my sincerest condolences to his wife, family, and friends. The world will be less without his presence. God speed, Mickey.

Dear Nancy, Debbie, Scott, Missi, Bill and Shelly,
Lisa and I are so sad to hear about Mickey's passing, and I am glad to have been his regular customer and I believe also his friend. Every time I came in for an appointment, he was always glad to see me and we had the best conversations. He could talk about anything, but our favorite topics were motorcycles, sports cars and travel. I never knew he was a drummer or we could have talked about that too! I will really miss those conversations and running into you two at Massies. Nobody could deal with my hateful head of hair like him. My and Lisa's thoughts and prayers will be for you and the family at this most difficult time, Glens Falls has really lost a great and unique individual. There are few true Barbers left and he was surely one of them! I am going to have a "swig" of coffee in his memory! Again, please accept our most sincere prayers and deepest condolences.
Sincerely,
Mark and Lisa Stipano

I am so sorry to hear of Mickey’s passing. I have such fond memories while growing up, of the many hours, and sleepovers I had at the Choppa home. Mickey and Nancy and his wonderful family were my second home for many years. The unconditional love Mickey had for his wife and children, and their friends was like no other. He was a great example of a hard working, loving, genuine person. I will always remember his beautiful smile. Whenever I would run into him and Nancy, he would ask me about my own barber/beauty salon and my family. Hugs to you all and I pray that all the wonderful memories you have together will help you all through this difficult time. Thank You for some of my best memories with your family.
Much love & fond memories,
Michele (Sillero) Stimpson

I am so sorry to read about Mickey’s passing. Nancy and I were on Ski Patrol together for many years and always had such great times on the hill! I was fortunate enough to teach all of their great children and knew how much Mickey cared for each one because of his involvement in all their activities, especially with Michelle and her High Jump practices and competitions! He always had that infectious smile of his. My condolences to Nancy and his children.

We have known Mickey for so long it seems that he had become a part of our family decades ago. I also looked forward to my visits with him- he made getting a haircut a pleasant experience, and I always walked out of his salon with the same perfect haircut and lots of new, interesting and fun stories to add to our mutual collection. He became a good friend to Harriet and myself over the years and we already miss him terribly. Our sincere condolences go out to Nancy and her wonderful family.

Mickey's example of unconditional love for his family sustains all that knew him. His love of life, adventure, hard work and entrepreneurial energy has impacted everyone he touched. He is gone too soon for all of us, and obviously God has big plans in store for him now. I know we'll feel those blessings and see his wonderful smile guiding us as we continue this OneBigLife earthly journey until united again. Love to the whole Choppa family and continuous hugs and prayers to Nancy. Ed Anderson and Elaine Ralls, and the Arizona contingency. XOX

As I am drinking my cup of coffee this morning and reading Mickey obit my thoughts are what a nice man he was. Here are two examples . Several years ago I suffered severe back disease . I went to several doctors and the prognosis was not great. Well I came home from one doctor appointment and Mickey saw me struggling to get out of the car . He came over to me and asked what was wrong . I explained to him my situation and he said he knew of a doctor at Albany med who has done wonders for people. He said hang on I have his info in my house. That gesture on his part most likely save me years of agony. I had the surgery and I was walking that afternoon and have been pain free since then.
During a blinding snowstorm I received a call that my wife was involved in vehicle accident .I called a friend of mine who has a four wheel drive vehicle and asked him to pick me up. Mickey was out snowblowing his driveway when my friend picked me up He asked me what happened . I told him my wife was involved in a car accident and I had to leave . When I returned home my driveway was cleared of snow. Who did this act of kindness ? Yes it was Mickey ! I'll miss seeing him riding his lawn tractor mowing his lawn. I knew it was time to mow my lawn when I saw Mickey doing his thing ! In closing you know the old adage they don't make them like they used to. This differently holds true for Mickey. RIP Mickey !

Mick's been cutting my hair ever since I moved to the area 45 years ago. I didn't pay too much attention to whatever Mick was doing to my hair, but just loved chatting and telling stories. I will really miss that a lot...Nancy, I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Going to have my haircut by Mickey was a treat. He did the job excellently over the years, even though I had less and less over the years. But, the real treasure was talking about life, family, politics and whatever was on our collective minds. It was a 20-30 minute treat! Now, the terrible news of losing him! My prayers of condolence go out (along with my wife) to Nancy and her family. But, my prayers of thanks go out for having the pleasure of having Mickey as a friend for those many years.

I was lucky enough to get to know Mickey when he gave his daughter Shelly away at her and Rob’s wedding. I remember how joyful, proud, and genuine he was during that entire weekend. Great man.

I knew Mickey for years. I worked at Ace Beauty Supply aka Cosmo Prof. He was one of my favorite people. He brightened my day. Although I'm hone from there, I think of all my favorite people often. Mickey, walk with God and feel the peace He will bring you. Until we meet again my friend.
