Betty A. Ackley, 66, of Cross Road, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born February 3, 1947 in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Jarvis) Steininger.
After attended Warrensburg Central School, she began working as a self employed bookkeeper for numerous local businesses. Betty retired from the BPOE Lodge 81 as head bookkeeper following many years of faithful service.
Betty married Ernest J. “Butch” Ackley in 1988 and the couple spent 18 years together before his untimely passing in 2006.
Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking, lounging in her pool, camping, reminiscing, and just enjoying life.
Besides her parents, and beloved husband, Butch, she was predeceased by her beloved four legged friend, Mitze.
Betty is survived by a son, Chip Aldrich and his wife, Heidi of Johnsburg; step-children, Ernest Ackley, Jr. and his companion, Linda Parks, Missy Ackley and her companion, Tony Trapasso, DeeDee Roach and her husband, Jeff, and Heidi Rogers and her companion, Brett Marini, all of Warrensburg; her twin brother, William J. Steininger, Jr. of Warrensburg; She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, soon to be twin great-grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
Friends may call on Betty’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at the convenience of her family in North Caldwell Cemetery, Lake George, where she will be laid to rest aside her beloved husband.
Betty’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses on Tower 2 and 4 West, especially her favorite nurse, Tammy.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Betty’s name to the Warrensburg EMS or Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Department or to a charity of one’s choice.
