Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg: Nicholas C. Marinesco, 82, of Golf Course Road, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home. Born April 17, 1930 in Bucharest, Romania, he was the son of the late Constantine and Alexandra (Stefanescu) Marinesco. Nick had a love for his old country, Romania, a country filled with gardens of flowers and music; a great time of dancing and happiness. He attended a military high school, where he learned the German language and self discipline. He then studied and experimented with chemical engineering, constructing radio receivers and several other electronic devices. In 1966 he escaped Romania, to come stateside for the better opportunities offered. He began working in the field of cancer research, giving him great experience to kick start his own photochromic business. He settled just outside of Warrensburg, a place he called “Little Switzerland”, in the heart of the Adirondacks; there he operated his company, American Chem Plastics. Nick enjoyed building model airplanes, and becoming an adventurous aviator. He was a devote Christian, attending mass at the former Church of the Archangel Gabriel and was an active communicant of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in South Glens Falls. Besides his parents, his sisters, Maria and Aneta have also predeceased him. Survivors include his companion, Alexandria; a niece, Alexantra; and his dog, Boney. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg with Father Philip Begley, Pastor of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
