Obituary of Dawn P. Robbins

Hudson Falls: Rev. Dawn P. Robbins, 55, of King Ave., went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, July 29, 2012 at her home. Born June 9, 1957 in Chelsea, MA, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Mildred (Evans) Robbins. A native of Boston, she was a 1975 graduate of Everett High School. She furthered her studies at Suffolk University in 1979 and then Boston University of Theology, where she secured her degree in 1984. Rev. Robbins was commissioned as a probationary elder in 1983, becoming ordained as a full elder in 1987. She has served in Burke-Haven, Greenfield Center, Porter Corners, South Corinth, Argyle, Fortsville, Warrensburg, and Bolton Landing; most recently pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church. Dawn was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America. She also was one of the founders of the Chrysalis Movement in the former Troy Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a second grade teacher at the King’s School in Hadley. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her beloved daughter, cross-stitching, Sudoku, watching her favorite shows and going out for dinner with her many friends. Dawn leaves behind her daughter, JoAnn Wood and her beloved, Mike Perry of Hudson Falls; step-children, Taime Ludwig and her husband, Michael of Diamond Point, and James Wood of Clifton Park; her siblings, Marilyn Tillinghast, Gary, Gwen and Glen Robbins, her niece, Tayla Robbins; two step grandchildren, Jeremy Komp and Aaliyah Artis; “a sister in Christ” Kimberly Ruggles Payne, a lifelong best friend, Nancy Ruggles; and the many extended family and friends in all the communities she served. Friends may call on Dawn’s family from 5-7 pm Saturday at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, 227 Main St. Hudson Falls. A memorial service to celebrate her beautiful life will be conducted 1:00 pm Sunday at the church with her friend, The Rev. Bill Mudge officiating. Interment will follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery. A reception will take place at the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church after the committal service. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations designated for the JoAnn Wood scholarship fund and can be mailed to any branch of TD Bank.
