Obituary of Maurice J. Beaudet

Queensbury/North Creek: Maurice J. Beaudet, 78, longtime North Creek resident and current Queensbury resident died in Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday,May 23, 2006. Joseph Maurice Beaudet was born on July 10, 1927, at Ste. Sophie de L\351vard, Quebec, the son of the late Donat and Marie-Louise (Pratte) Beaudet. Maurice moved with his family from Quebec to Newcomb, N.Y. in 1940. He graduated from Newcomb Central High School in Newcomb, N.Y., and started working for National Lead Company in Tahawus in 1946, in the payroll department. He served in the US Army during the Korean War in 1953-54, and returned to work at National Lead (later known as, NL Industries), retiring in 1982. He was well-known by many skiers at Gore Mountain Ski Center as a ticket-checker (\223Eagle Eye\224) from 1969 to 1993. He also worked as a waiter and bartender at several restaurants and hotels in the area, including the Mountain View Hotel in Minerva, the Northwinds Restaurant in North Creek, Le Chalet Francais in Thurman, and others. Following his retirement from NL Industries, he owned Mobo's Variety Shop in North Creek for 4 years from '83 to '87. Recently celebrating their 51st anniversary, Maurice married his wife, Marielle Beaudet (maiden name, no relation), on May 14, 1955, in Lotbiniere, Quebec, Canada by Maurice's twin brother, Rev. Eugene Beaudet. Maurice was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Cecile and Rose, and brothers Donat, Adrian, and twin brother, Fr. Eugene Beaudet. Maurice is survived by his wife, Marielle Beaudet of Queensbury. Also, he is survived by his children; Ernest and wife Holly Clare Beaudet of Oneonta, Denise Beaudet of Queensbury, and Roger Beaudet of Johnsburg, and grandchildren Palmer Clare and Walter Clare of Oneonta. In addition, he is survived by many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, mostly in Quebec, as well as, several nephews and nieces. There will be no calling hours. Maurice is a participant in the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany MedicalCollege. Graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery; where he will be laid to rest along side his beloved wife on what would have been there 58th wedding anniversary. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association in remembrance of Maurice Beaudet would be appreciated.
