Warrensburg: Errico “Ed” M. Monforte, 78, of State Route 9, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 2, 2012 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer - surrounded by his loving family. Born December 29, 1933, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Caputo) Monforte. Later, Ed proudly served his country during the Korean War by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge in 1956, he began his career in food service. Ed learned the art of baking under the direction of his grandfather, which led to him starting his own bakery in Long Island. Ed was also a volunteer with the Suffolk County Auxiliary Police Department. He married Constance Morin on September 9, 1973, and the couple enjoyed 39 years together. After he and Connie moved to Warrensburg in 1976, Ed opened Spruce Mountain Bakery, which he operated for over 35 years. He was well known for his authentic Italian breads and pastries. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Lydia Monforte; and siblings: Nicholas Monforte and Carmela Monforte, and Pierre. He is survived by his beloved wife, Constance Monforte of Warrensburg; his children: Michael Monforte and his wife, Jamie of Schenectady; Nathan Monforte and his wife, Kathleen of Burlington, VT; Zachary Monforte and his wife, Halley of Manchester, VT; Shane Monforte of Warrensburg; Bruce Monforte and his companion, Missy of FL; Eric Monforte of Long Island; Sandra Monforte and her partner, Bahia of NYC; Terianne Irizarry and her husband, Louis of Long Island; his grandchildren: Lydia, Nicole, Eric, Raven, Dylan, Talia, and Camryn; his great-grandchildren: Charlie and Alana; as well as two young ladies he considered his close family: Donna Infranco and her husband Michael, their children Christopher, Nicholas, and Michael; and Stacie DeAngelo and her husband Victor, and their daughter D’Azia.
