Obituary of Viorica Dinu

Warrensburg:
Viorica “Lilly” Dinu (“Mama”), 85, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at her home, with her loving family by her side following a short illness.
Born March 19, 1927 in Bacau, Romania, she was the daughter of the late Mihai and Aneta Dram.
Following her high school graduation in Bucharest, Romania, she attended the University of Medicine and Pharmacology, obtaining the title as a Pharmacist in 1951.
Lilly married Dr. Ilie Dinu in 1951. The couple came to the United States in 1987 to be closer to their daughter; relocating to Warrensburg in 1990 where they owned and operated the Patisserie, Lilly’s Place on Main Street for seven years. Along with her husband, she became a U.S. citizen in 1993; after 46 years of marriage Dr. Ilie Dinu passed away in 1997.
She very much loved her children, family, and friends, and enjoyed flowers, music, her beloved husky, Zabar and her dearest friends, affectionately known as the Golden Girls.
Besides her parents and beloved husband, her sister, Antoinette Dram has also predeceased her.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Raluca Sandler and her husband, Gary Cooper Sr., of Warrensburg; her son, Eng. Zaharia Dinu and his wife, Monica of Lake George; grandchildren, Aileen Dinu of Lake George, and Gary Cooper, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen of Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves behind a sister, Rita Achim from Romania, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Viorica’s family from 3 to 6 pm, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her beautiful life will follow the visitation, Saturday at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Rite of Committal will take place at 1:00 pm, Sunday in Warrensburg Cemetery.
Viorica’s family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nancy Carney and Dr. Mark Hoffman, and their staff for the excellent care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
