Charles B. Altman, 82, of South Johnsburg Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 28, 1930 in Hampton, SC, he was the son of the late Joe and Eva (Phillips) Altman.
Charles, affectionately referred to as “Reb”, served in the United States Army as a paratrooper before his honorable discharge.
He was employed by several area construction companies as an operating engineer, and a member of Local 106 for 60 years.
Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and partying with his friends and family.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by four brothers, Bobby, Bill, Joe, and George, and one sister, Geneva.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda L. Altman of Warrensburg; five children from his first marriage to Dorothy Shortsleves, Charles Van Altman of FL, Jeff Altman and his companion, Wendy of Warrensburg, Billy Altman and his wife, Cindy of Athol, Connie DePalo of Queensbury, and Rhonda Altman of Auburn; and two children from his present marriage, Joseph Altman and his companion, Laura, and Jamie Updike and her husband, Bruce, all of Warrensburg. Charles also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
At Charles’ request there will be no calling hours or formal services held at this time.
