Obituary of Charles F. Armstrong

Hubbardton, VT and Chestertown Charles F. Armstrong, 62 formally of Chestertown and most recently of Hubbardton, VT passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, VT after complications from open heart surgery. Born September 2, 1943 in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late Frederick and Marguerite (Harpp) Armstrong. Charlie graduated from Chestertown High School with the Class of 1961. He spent four years in the US Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA. He served aboard the USS Dupont and the USS Biddle as a radioman before his honorable discharge. Charlie was employed with General Electric in Fort Edward as a Quality Control Leader for over 35 years before retiring in 1996. He married Laura Millington Armstrong on November 5, 1983. His favorite pastimes included listening to country music, playing his guitar, teaching himself the keyboard, boating and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Laura Armstrong of Hubbardton, VT; his children, Lisa Hayes and her husband, Donald of South Glens Falls, Gary Armstrong of Warrensburg, Dean Armstrong of Duanesburg, Chad Armstrong and his wife, Renee of Warrensburg, Dewey Corlew and his wife, Tammy of Whitehall, Brian Smith and his wife, Serena of Poultney, VT, Penny Springer and her husband, Frank; his brother, Raymond “Butch” Armstrong and his wife, Donna of Imler, PA; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 12-2 pm Wednesday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Chester Rural Cemetery, Chestertown. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Assoc. or to the American Diabetes Foundation.
