Obituary of Mary C. Corlew

North Creek / Queensbury: Mary C. Corlew, 90, formerly of Riverside and Queensbury, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Queensbury following a long illness. Born April 27, 1920 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Kennedy) Flynn. Mary married Harold M. Corlew on October 14, 1940 in St. Joseph’s RC Church in Olmstedville. Mary was a longtime Dental Assistant for Doc Baroudi in North Creek. She and her husband retired to Robert Gardens Apartments in Queensbury. Mary was a communicant at St. Joseph’s Church in Olmstedville and St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. Besides spending time with her family, her favorite pastimes included camping, snowmobiling, and crafts. Besides her parents, her brother, William Flynn and her son in law, Jack Liberty have both predeceased her. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Harold C. Corlew of Warrensburg; her son, Thomas J. Corlew and his wife, Sue of Lehigh Acres, FL; her daughter, Joan Liberty of Fort Edward; three grandchildren: Jim VanGuilder, Joy Elms, and John Liberty; six great-grandchildren; her sister in law, Marie Corlew of Glens Falls; along with several nieces, nephew and cousins. Friends may call on Mary’s family from 4-7pm Friday, April 22 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted 10 am Saturday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s Church in Warrensburg officiating. Rite of committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Irishtown. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a charity of ones choice. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Stanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre for the compassionate care provided for Mary during her final years.
