Obituary of Madaline A. Ross

Bolton Landing: Madaline A. Ross, 101, formerly of New Vermont Road, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury with her loving family by her side. Born March 11, 1910 in Bolton Landing, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Bessie (Archer) Burgess. Madaline was a lifelong resident of the area and married Walter C. Ross. The couple spent 61 years together until his passing on February 4, 1987. Raising her extensive family was the dearest enjoyment of her life. She loved to square dance, round dance, crochet, cook and knit hats and mittens for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Madaline attended the Bolton Landing Baptist Church. Besides her parents and beloved husband, she is predeceased by her son, Walter Chancey Ross and her daughter, Iva Reed, her granddaughter, Cheryl Russell, grandson, Gary Eysinger; sister, Gladys Monroe and her brother, Lewis Burgess. She is survived by her three daughters: Audrey Vernum and Marjorie Duggan and husband, Leo of Bolton Landing; Jessie Brauser and her husband, Allen of Cold Spring; her son, Lewis Ross and his wife, Frances of Warrensburg; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Madaline’s family from 1-3 pm Tuesday, January 24, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 3 pm with the Fr. Jim Loughren, Rector of the Church of the Saint Sacrement in Bolton Landing officiating. Spring burial will take place in Bolton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Westmount Health Facility.
