Obituary of Gregory L. Armstrong

Schroon Lake: Gregory L. Armstrong, Sr., 56, of Severance Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 11, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born August 25, 1954 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Lee Armstrong and Gladys Walker. Greg was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended the Pottersville School District and later began his working career doing contracting jobs for several local businesses. Recently, Greg was employed by Rounds Paving in Warrensburg and Pecor Construction in Schroon Lake. Greg was a communicant of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Schroon Lake, Adirondack Mission. Besides spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, he enjoyed fishing, refinishing furniture, woodworking, and his numerous animals. He is predeceased by his brother, Christopher Armstrong and his sister, Darlene Haynes. He is survived by his parents; Gladys Walker of Hudson Falls and Lee Armstrong and his wife, Alice of North Creek; his son, Gregory Armstrong, Jr. of Johnstown; his loving companion, Denise Poulin of Schroon Lake; his brothers: Bill Armstrong and his wife, Lisa of North Creek; Bruce Terrell and his wife, Marilyn of Warrensburg; his sister’s: Debbie Yontz and her husband, Jeff of Hampton, VA; Penny Persons and her husband, Jason of North Creek; Reesa Lackie of Granville; his grandchildren: Montana Armstrong, Jansen Armstrong, and Owen Gillings; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Greg’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Christian Memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm, at the funeral home with the Rev. Karen E. J. Henry of the Adirondack Mission, officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Adirondack Mission, PO Box 119, Brant Lake, NY 12815.
