Obituary of Beverly R. LaBounty

North Creek: Beverly R. LaBounty, 73, of Bird Pond Road, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 7, 1939 in Jay, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Flossie (Smith) Watson. She married Sherman T. LaBounty on July 7, 1956 in Ausable Forks. The couple worked together for 33 years at North Creek Woodworking where she was employed as a machine operator. Bev and Sherman retired together in 1999 and thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years. Bev was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings: Clarence, Bud, Verna, Manny, Reggie, Harold and Shirley. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Sherman T. LaBounty of North Creek; her children: Shelly Johnson of Orlando, FL; Julie Dower and her husband, Francis of North Creek; Rhonda Richards and her husband, Mark of North Creek; Glynn LaBounty also of North Creek; her grandchildren Shawn, Carrie, Nicholas, Lynsey, Matthew, Benjamin, Kyle, and Kara; several great-grandchildren; her three “adopted” daughters, Mary Alexander, Wanda Columbus and Cindy Caner; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Bev’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11 am, Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Olmstedville with Father Richard Sturtz, officiating. Bev’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Three West as well as the High Peaks Hospice nurses, Paula and Kelly. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Olmstedville and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
